It’s been a while since I’ve posted, so this will be a follow up to multiple events and an Aiken wrap up post. The horses have really come along well this winter, Dickie has solidified himself as a prelim horse, placing at all of his prelim outings so far. Lion has become more consistent at prelim(especially the show jumping) and is feeling ready for his first FEI outing which will likely be the CCI* at Virginia in May. Dale moved up to training and has taken the new challenges in stride.
The notable events since my last post! I’m going to start with the March Sporting Days. Lion was great in the prelim being one of the only horses at the level to finish on his dressage score to place 4th. It was also Shannondale Fionn’s(Dale) first training, he jumped clean xc, 1 rail and a 28 in the dressage. The next week Dickie Small competed in the prelim at Full Gallop, he didn’t have the greatest dressage of his career but he was great on cross country, posting a double clear which moved him up to 2nd place. Finally there was Stable View farm which was yesterday and today. I competed Dale in the open training and Dom Boccia rode Winnie in the junior training. Dale was great in all 3 phases, finishing on his dressage score to place 4th out 31. Dom also had a great event, being one of only a few juniors to show jump clear bringing him up to 3rd place!
Now we are starting to pack things up and get all the horses back up to Pennsylvania. Kaitlin is heading to Carolina International tomorrow and returning home following the event. I will remain in Aiken with most of my string and head to Morven Park next week, and return home following that event.
We are excited to get back home end meet the new horses that will be joining us at Hermitage Farm, and I am excited to get back to teaching all of my regular students and help them get their spring season’s rolling!
